The Rivers of Empires Look All Alike (2022)
The Rivers of Empires Look All Alike is a grief-love letter to Albanian activist Adelina Sejdini. Through the
story of her suicide in the Tevere river in Rome, a social and political commentary is woven to explore the
denied legal rights to citizenship, white feminisms, sex work and pop TV culture. Spasmodic shifts from a
single biography to a collective reflection, mark a temporality of incongruences and failures within an
intersectional European feminist discourse. Migration policies are echoed through the respective rivers that
nurtured and still faithfully accompany the ever interconnected industrial and ecological complex of
imperial Europe.
